  History

Sechaba offers managed care services that are supported by its IT system to ensure that managed care and administration are fully integrated and jointly managed.

Funds under Sechaba’s administration are in a position to receive appropriate information timeously, thereby reducing risk to both the fund and the member, while identifying current and future trends, and member and provider utilisation patterns. This in turn aids fund trustees to make informed decisions and improve benefit-modelling capabilities.

Technology is used to marry managed care with patient care. Because the various platforms share the same underlying databases, Sechaba can provide sophisticated data management and powerful reporting tools through which it is able to identify both providers and members with unfavourable practice profiles. With information integrated into the daily workflow, funders and providers can make more informed decisions, serve members better and gain a competitive edge.

Sechaba’s approach to managed care differs to that of many other administrators, who import overseas solutions and impose products that are both too prescriptive and admin-intensive for the member. Whereas the medical fraternity has rejected many of these contracts, the managed care products offered by Sechaba have been endorsed by various medical groups. This is an indication of our flexible consultative approach, which seeks to create unique South African solutions to essentially South African problems.

Sechaba offers a highly skilled clinical team that has as their main focus the delivery of high-quality yet cost-effective healthcare based on clear scientific principles such as evidence-based efficacy and ultimately affordability.

This enables Sechaba to develop funding guidelines, protocols, formularies and disease management programmes that are recognised by the industry and legislative bodies as being sound and ensuring that members receive quality, affordable and clinically appropriate healthcare delivery.
