Empowering the disadvantaged

As the first 100% black-owned medical aid administrator in South Africa, empowerment in all its many facets has been the backbone on which Sechaba established itself and remains a strong pillar of pride. Sechaba is thus committed to delivering quality healthcare solutions in a culture-sensitive manner.

We believe in empowerment on all levels, and have a high percentage of previously disadvantaged individuals as an integral part of our staff mix. We have launched several management initiatives to promote employee empowerment and have developed strategies to achieve a consistent recruitment and selection process.

However, it is not only its long-standing black ownership on which it prides itself, but also its gender empowerment, particularly at branch and departmental management and supervisory levels.

To this end, Sechaba has been nominated on numerous occasions by Top 300 Empowerment Companies and Top Women in Business & Government in the healthcare sector.
Sechaba is a South African success story to be celebrated, especially in a country where the concept of black empowerment has been at the forefront of the business sector only over the last few years since the country’s emergence into a democracy and is still a slowly evolving process.
This philosophy of supporting diversity and accepting all cultures transfers to the administration of our client funds. Sechaba has paid careful attention to the needs of fund members and has pioneered features that recognise the differences in South African cultures.
