K.J. Msibi, Chairman

Khandani Msibi is the Group CEO of NIC; he joined NIC in 2008 when the Group was facing liquidation in the Cape High Court. Khandani was instrumental in the rescue of NIC from liquidation, its turnaround and growth. Khandani started his career in the steel industry and progressed to the FMCG industry where his managerial career flourished in companies like Bristol Myers Squibb, Bromor Foods and ABI. 

 Msibi’ career achievements prior to joining NIC include leading a team to build a factory for Bromor Foods in Durban, preventing the closure of Pretoria Manufacturing in ABI through productivity and quality improvements. More importantly Khandani was in the team that brought Energade to market, revolutionising the sports drink market.

His qualifications include the following: NTD (Mechanical), B Tech (Business Admin), MBL (UNISA), MAP (Wits), MDP (UCT).

Mahlubi Mazwi, Executive Director and Group CFO

Mahlubi Mazwi is the an executive director and group CFO of  Numsa Investment Company (NIC) He holds a BCom from the University of Natal and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998.  His career spans internal auditing, corporate finance, investments and general financial management.  He previously worked for Deloitte, African Merchant Bank, and Deutsche Securities. Mahlubi joined NIC in 2009 and was intimately involved in the rescuing and subsequent turnaround of NIC.

Karabo Morule

Karabo is a qualified actuary who obtained her Business Science degree in Actuarial Science with First Class Honours at the University of Cape Town. She is a Fellow with the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) and was recognized as one of the 200 Young South African leaders who are shaping the country’s future (Mail & Guardian, 2014). Karabo works in financial services, having started her career with J.P. Morgan, the global investment bank, working in Equity Derivatives marketing, and moving on to structuring insurance linked securities with the company in London. Upon her return to South Africa, Karabo joined Old Mutual in 2010, and has worked in a number of executive roles there in both the retail and employee benefits businesses. She is currently the Managing Director for the Personal Finance business at Old Mutual.

Malande Tonjeni

Malande is the Financial Director of CONCO South Africa, a power construction company. She is currently the Principal Officer of the Foskor Provident Fund and was previously the General Manager: Finance and ICT at Foskor, a mining and chemicals production company. She has also previously been an independent audit committee member for the Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS). She has held senior management positions at First National Bank and KPMG. Her academic qualifications include C.A. (SA); Transition to General Management Executive Program at INSEAD; Banking, Mining Tax and Project Management post graduate diplomas. She completed her articles at KPMG in 2002.

Dr Thekiso Selele (MBChB, MBA)

Dr Selele is a qualified medical practitioner, having completed his degree at the University of Natal Medical School. He has clinical experience in several medical disciplines, working for both private and public sectors in SA and the UK. He subsequently worked in the financial sector in SA in the field of strategy and completed his MBA at the University Of Cape Town Graduate School Of Business. He is currently working towards specialising in the field of Ophthalmology.

Mbuso Ngubane

He has joined NUMSA from 2006 as a local organiser but shortly after that he got elected as KZN Regional Secretary until to date. This is the highest position in the KZN Region of NUMSA among other its responsibilities is to head the administration including finance and further manage all the ten offices of NUMSA in KZN.

In the past he was working for POPCRU as KZN Provincial Organiser, he also served in the following Organisations: Board member for the Presidents Award Programme which was led by the late President Mandela, Deputy Provincial Secretary for YCL in KZN and General Secretary of SACSA.
